Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act

MYR Corporation has implemented appropriate administrative, physical & technical safeguards to prevent any use or disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI) for all of our business associates. The following is a brief summary of security measures that we have taken:

• Documents containing Protected Health Information are disposed of in a locked, tamper-proof box and shredded by an outside service with which a Business Associate Agreement is on file.
• Faxes and E-mails contain a disclosure statement instructing the receiver to handle the item according to HIPAA regulations.
• All e-mails are secured with username and password safeguards.
• All access to software is secured with username and password safeguards.
• Use of unidentified, personal diskettes on any computer or network is not permitted within the organization.
• Mishandled privacy issues are directed to the Privacy Officer, documented and handled accordingly.
• Our software is protected by the use of Cisco PIX 500 Series firewalls, the premier network security line offering the latest technology in Stateful Inspection Firewalls and Intrusion Detection and Prevention.
